Workshop dedicated to current regulations and challenges in the field of telecommunications networks

AFOR participated in a workshop dedicated to current regulations and challenges in the field of telecommunications networks organized by APPCR.

The Professional Association of Cable Producers in Romania (APPCR) organized a workshop on Tuesday, April 15, dedicated to current regulations and challenges in the telecommunications networks sector.

Representatives from AFOR (the Association of Optical Fiber in Romania) and APPCR debated pressing issues in the industry and presented necessary proposals to lay the groundwork for building a robust, clearly regulated digital infrastructure prepared for the future.

“As the president of APPCR, I am pleased to see a genuine and applied dialogue between APPCR and AFOR members. It is clear that only through inter-associational collaboration can we contribute to the development of a coherent, secure telecommunications infrastructure that is ready for the future. The concrete steps agreed upon at this meeting lead us in the right direction,” concluded Cristian Gheorghe, president of APPCR.

What were the conclusions?

  • It is time for updated regulations in the field. Ideas, arguments, and solutions were proposed for legislative measures that ensure telecommunications infrastructure keeps pace with current needs.
  • Roads are being modernized. Why not networks? The law already requires the integration of telecommunications into road infrastructure projects – it just needs to be applied.
  • The multi-operator model is a necessity. We have examples from France and other European countries to bring this system to Romania.
  • Collaboration is key. APPCR, AFOR, ANCOM, the Ministry of Development, and local authorities must be on the same wavelength.
  • Education is the key to a robust industry. That is why initiatives have been launched to support high schools and specialized universities, focusing on preparing the future generation of specialists in optical fiber and communications.
The potential of the industry is enormous. Let’s connect it to the future. Together.
